GIANT HORNETS!!!

As if honey bees didn’t have enough to worry about…

Asian giant hornets have been spotted in Washington State near the Canadian border. This National Geographic video describes how native Japanese honey bees fend them off, but honey bees here do not have the same defenses. The hornets can sting multiple times and the venom is dangerous to honey bees as well as humans. Apparently, according to an article in the New York Times, the hornets are considered a delicacy in some parts of rural Japan.
